Wrapped in the Flag... by YNot1989 Wrapped in the Flag... by YNot1989
2013: Sarah Palin is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, she enters office with a Tea Party led Republican Congress and rides on a wave of support following the Los Angeles Massacre. Shortly upon entering office President Palin signs the State Border Act, allowing for States to be divided upon a majority vote by the state legislatures. A number of states break up upon its signing.

2014: Senator Frank Lautenberg dies of a stroke breaking the Democrat filibuster of the American Health Care Act. The bill abolishes the Obama era legislation and removes many constraints on private companies. With a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate ultra-conservative legislation passes with little effort.

2015: Millions march on Washington to protest the Palin administration and the Tea Party led Congress after the Patriot Act is amended to allow the President to deploy troops on US Soil. The protesters are beaten back by the National Guard, now federalized and administered by the Department of Homeland Security.

2016: A number of Presidential Candidates are disqualified from running by Palin appointed Federal Judges. With little competition and thanks to the addition of more conservative states to the union, President Palin and the Tea Party win an easy victory in the elections.

2017: Seattle, New York, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, and a number of other cities are in open rebellion after President Palin is sworn in for a Second Term. President Palin sends US Forces into California after the state's Tea Party backed governor is elected.

2018: The US Congress ratifies the 28th Amendment, which gives the government more power to limit freedom of expression. The Faith and Flag Act is passed shortly afterwords, stating that Christianity is the official religion of the United States and banning the destruction of American Flag after it is changed to include the new states and a Cross.

-------
What a fascist regime would do the American flag... if they had as little imagination as me apparently.

You're almost close about Senator Frank Lautenberg... In reality, He actually died a year before the year in your fictional time (Its 2013 in reality; 2014 in this fictitious timeline). That is, with the "Democratic Filibuster".

Very biased and I take offense as I'm a Republican myself, but an interesting flag design nevertheless. This would never happen though. Our great nation is religiously neutral, thank goodness.

Every single Republican President since Nixon has expanded the size of the federal government to impose a moral code over the whole of the population. The Tea Party is no different. They're pro-"Freedom," so long as its tearing down social welfare programs, specifically the Affordable Care Act, and they're just as homophobic, xenophobic, anti-education as the last mob of idiots the GOP used to bash their way into the White House, the Neo-Cons. Enjoy your kool-aide.

Your government already has power to limint freedom of expression.

It's called hate speech laws.

We don't really have those. Many European countries do, but we don't have any enforceable laws regarding hate speech. (a recent supreme court case kept the precedence that so long as it does not use the threat of violence, it is not a crime) The first amendment protects any and all forms of expression. Including hate speech.

My bad, you have Patriot Act instead.

Besides, the United States has a rich history in crowd-sourcing conformity of opinion.

And your "democrats" believe free speech only defends from your Congress, so...

You sir have quite the imagination Palin wouldn't be able to do any of this even if she was President and the Tea Partiers are libertarians. In reality both Parties are equally entrenched in the system that can only be brought down via revolution.

It's an ASB scenario dude. And the Tea Partiers are neocons who started calling themselves libertarians.

Do you have a source to back that up? All you need to show me is some conservative social policy and I will agree.

Are you serious? Ron Paul warned the neo-cons were taking over the Tea Party way back in 2010, the movement is horrendously anti-gay (Tea Party Nation’s Alan Caruba has been quoted saying “the queering of America” is “one more factor in the destruction of America."), xenophobic (see Eric Cantor's defeat to a radical Tea Party challenger over immigration reform), and given the wave of anti-abortion legislation coinciding with their rise to power its safe to say they're in bed with the Christian Right. So tell me, what exactly makes you think the neo-cons haven't taken over the Tea Party and made it their own personal mob?

I guess the only reason the tea party is with the republicans is because if they split into their own minor party, they'd be quickly forgotten...

it's not exactly hard to get weapons. most gangbangers in chicago get weapons from suburbs, indiana is nearby, etc. So I could see some militias mase of people using hunting rifles and shutguns lol. Before they remember to saw off the shotguns.

Easy enough, just know that if you're brazen enough to carry an exposed weapon on the street you'll be met with the reaction you'd expect from cops. Reasonable concern, and a desire to see your permit of ownership.

What was it Upton Sinclair said? Oh, yeah, "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." You called it about as accurately as Margaret Atwood did in "The Handmaid's Tale". :(
