We were the generation born into a world of such promise and prosperity
We were raised to believe that there were certain things that simply didn't change.
Money would always be there
Families stick together
There is good and there is evil
No one can take away your freedom
We are safe

It has been more than two decades since we came into this world
Two decades for us to learn that all we were taught was a lie
You are entitled to nothing
Families are self destructive
There is only interest, no good, no evil
Your freedom is negotiable
We aren't safe

We aren't bitter, we are apathetic.
We tried to change things, and when we need to be heard, they just pushed us aside.
We've given up, they still run this world, and until they're finally buried in the mountain of the filth they created, we'll take over, and realize the potential that our parents squandered.

For now we sit and wait, staring at our monitors, chatting with people we've never met, sharing ideas without borders, and finding friends in places we never imagined.
We are a generation free from fear, free from hate, free in all things but what is on paper. And while we patiently wait our turn, we look on and watch as our parents generation continues to make a mess of things, and ultimately mock their folly. For while they refuse to listen to reason, from each other or otherwise, we keep taking, we keep sharing ideas, we these denizens of the internet.
I fundamentally believe that this generation will have to fix the huge mess that our parents have made, and while we do not have the power yet, we will soon enough. If we keep to our principles, we may very well be the next "greatest generation."

Each generation screws things up trying to help the next. However, we will change that when our time comes. It may not be today, or tomorrow, but soon. The world will belong to us as a people.

As the saying goes, there's always going to be generational conflict. Just as our children will look at us with disdain (if we ourselves screw things up).

While I wouldn't call myself bitter nor that apathetic, the fact is simply that the new crop is only beginning to take the reins of power. It will be a while before the Baby Boomers and flower-children finally pass on.

Its up to us to make sure that their disdain is based on emotion on not logic :)

True. The question now is whether our generation's actions will bite us in the ass the moment the next comes of age.
