Two Continents, One Republic by YNot1989 Two Continents, One Republic by YNot1989
The decades long recovery since the World War has finally ended and America stands as the unquestioned military and economic hegemony of the world. The only Nation in history to have conquered two continents, the United States of America is constantly shifting to accommodate the needs of governing such a massive territory. Be it the Civil war that nearly rendered the country asunder or the constant rebellions, riots, and protests by separatist groups, the Federal Government of the United States is forced to constantly search for the right balance of Freedom vs. Tyranny. Through a combination of a strong welfare state, a vibrant economy made possibly by unending natural resources and a huge population, and the possibility of military intervention, the United States has, so far, managed to keep the Republic together.

...

This is a redo of an old scenario of mine known as "Our Revolution," where the course of American history is changed by a few unlucky time travelers. Don't ask me how many states there are I lost count.

What, didn't they also annex Antarctica?
Or rather, the antarctic continent of New America, organized as the Territory of Roosevelt....

Antarctica is still basically a big nature preserve.

I see there is no West Virginia, does that mean that the Upper Southern States didn't secede during this timeline, or was there never a Civil War between Northern and Southern States?

"The South," in this TL means the southern sub-continent of America (South America) and there was a war between the two continents.

So the South American States tried to secede instead of Our Timeline Southern States?

It actually depends on where you live. Only the United States people, canadians, and Mexicans call it N and S america.

Depending on where you live the definition varies, but most people on DA define the Americas as two continents rather than one, so I named it accordingly. Personally I think the Americas should be designated one continental mass.

Does the US happen to have overseas territories? I see the Philippines, several African nations, and maybe even Indochina as being possibilities to be part of the United States?

No, they have a hard enough time governing two continents without having to worry about overseas territories.

Is Hawaii still part of the U.S? I see that Alaska isn't one of the states. Another question, is the US allies with the territories or do they have tensions among each other?

The US owns Hawaii, but its part of a single Pacific Superstate. The territories are in good graces with the DC, they're just not populated enough for statehood.

I always thought that naming a state/provence after a large body of water that borders or goes through multiple others and has more to do with another which does not share that name, was a bit of a disaster.

Anyway, this was well researched and executed. The font etc look like what one would see in the mid-20th century.

It's late and I've been clicking on the wrong emoticons (?) --->

The first line was refering to places such as "Mississippi," "Ontario," "Michigan" and "Ohio" (although I like what you did with the later state :D)

Had to make it from scratch and using two separate maps and then line those up best I can, so the projection was neer gona be perfect.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good map, but one thing, Vizcaya: Vizcaya is the spanish name for the Bay of Biscay, so why would they name that state Vizcaya?

It was the name of a Spanish possession around that area when Mexico was still New Spain.
