Ottoman Empire 1918by ~YNot1989

With Europe on the brink of War the Ottomans are already facing an internal struggle to hang onto their once proud empire. In 1914 surveyors in the province of Kuwait discover vast oil fields, which the Ottoman emperor Mehmed V declares be exploited immediately. The new oil fields are only properly accessed by the middle of the War, and the Ottomans are able to do little beyond fueling their very limited armored forces and few flame throwers. The Empire is able to hold the Entente at the door to the end of the Great War, and surrenders their North African holdings as their homeland undergoes and Industrial Revolution. Territory in the heartland of Arabia is consolidated and the oil fields of the Persian gulf are exploited to fuel the beginnings of a new economy for the Ottomans.
