Occupy Amendments by YNot1989 Occupy Amendments by YNot1989
Our government is no longer serving our interests, and their recent series of bills that trample on our freedoms (SOPA, PIPA, the Defense Authorization Act) are textbook examples of what governments who know the people want them gone do to silent dissent. These are the surest ways short of violent revolution to solve our problems, whatever ideology you stand by, Liberal or Conservative, we have to be willing to put aside our differences for just a little while to pass these Amendments to the Constitution. After that we can argue to our hearts content, happy in the knowledge that at least the people we elect, work for us, and not the wealthiest of our citizens, or some foreign bank seeking to usurp our democracy.

The President has never been that powerful when it comes to domestic affairs. Beyond changing the electoral process to shield against spoilers and prevent minority-vote presidents from gaining power, I see very little cause for changing the executive office.

Are ya sure? The president has been constantly doing things without notifying Congress or seeing if they will vote for it.

SOPA, PIPA, and the like are horrible yeah, and there should be some serious changes to how our government is run, but what does the Electoral College have to do with it?

Puts presidents in power who were not elected by the majority of the population, like Bush Jr.

Last I checked, he claimed the second office because such a majority of the population were evangelicals, and also because Bush was doing a damn good job keeping the terrorists at bay and people were still very much afraid of that

Such a good job that he failed to kill Osama Bin Laden all throughout his administration, installed incompetent morons to head critical cabinet and agency level positions, and supported a series of tax-cuts and perscription drug programs that drove up deficits to unprecedented levels.

And not a single terrorist attack hit America after 9/11 for 8 years he's been in office.

And don't forget also about how toward the end of his presidency, the 4 trillion dollars he added to the debt as a result of the increased spending him and his compromised liberal congressmen did

The Supreme Court has lifetime terms to protect them from making popular decisions.

As of late they've been making corrupt decisions. How do lifetime terms protect the country from that?
