Empire of God by YNot1989 Empire of God by YNot1989
After three years of conflict the American War has come to an end, with the Treaty of Toronto. Canada and NATO officially recognize Americas gains, while Canada must recognize the new Republic of Quebec. Russia now bestrides Eastern Europe once again, and Greenland's independence has been recognized.

America has gained little, but is forced to Recognize the Republic of Cascadia. To promote internal stability, the borders are temporarily opened to allow Americas more vocal dissenters (i.e. the rebels in California and Vermont) to leave if the see fit. Millions do, though most choose to move to Cascadia.

The United States of America is all but a shadow of its former self, its Constitution mangled and the Bill of Rights abandoned. With the end of the War President Palin proclaims that America has won because it is "an Empire of God."

Well here it is, the end of my Wrapped in the Flag and Carrying a Cross Series, hope you all enjoyed it :)

The Palin administration implements a number of increasingly frivolous programs and bogs the country down in more wars that it cant win until a coup finally overtakes her and tears the nation asunder.

Its an American puppet state designed by Palin, I think we can expect some cultural insensitivity.

Canada sold them to pay for the war debt and help the surge of American refugees.

Wow, that's actually a pretty kick-ass story. I'm all about the dystopia, and their are some realistic political and social trends at work in this map. Especially liking the Republic of Cascadia, that's something I've been trying to work with for awhile!

Jesus Christ I hope we never experience anything remotely like this, Theocracys are bad enough but give no the power of a the US.... hell no.

Is the US in any danger of turning into something like this at all given what its extreme Christian Right can be like (seen them on youtube) ?

No, in fact this last election showed that they were largely irrelevant as a deciding factor in its outcome.

Why would the Americans support a extremely agnostic French speaking Quebec as it went into English speaking parts of the Maritime instead of simply taking their claims in Labrador? And to support the other people below, I am socially, economically, and politically right in certain areas and must continue with my past insistence that Palin is not Evil with a capital E. She is just an idiot. With a secessionist for a husband. Shame you aren't doing more of this series, as I would expect her to soon be pushed aside, incapacitated, or killed of by the government.

That last part insinuates that she'd be anything more than a figurehead. Much like Bush, a Palin administration would essentially hand power directly over to the richest men in the country.

Hell, I come from a Conservative family and even my parents despise Sarah Palin. Me? I'm a far left American Liberal, which would make me a European Conservative I guess :P

But this... this rightly scares the beejesus out of me. If this were to happen, I'd be all for going to Cascadia. Hopefully things start to look up for the United States, I mean we are one of the greatest countries out there, but...this just...wow...

Kudos on creating a dystopian future! I couldn't have done it better myself! :D

but the pedantic in me wants to know why Cascadia has Vancouver Island and why Anticosti Island (which is part of Quebec) in this map belongs to Canada?

Canada sold it to Cascadia so that they would have a buffer against the US Pacific Fleet, and I just plain forgot to color Anticosti correctly.

Crap, they Crusaders control Panama too. :(

I'd still guess there'd be quite a few incidentes of civil unrest in this new theocratic superpower, especially in the occupied territories. Places like Northern Mexico and Haiti have had unrest for years and that'd probably continue even under American rule, especially if they'd feel that the occupants would be forcing their values on them. The Cubans would especially be pissed, 'cause even though many probably detest the dictatorship they live under, they're really happy for their healthcare system and other benefits of their state run institutions and would most likely react rather negatively to the small-state ideology of the Tea-Party.

Northern Mexico has pretty much had most of its originally citizens deported, Cuba is under Marshal Law, and their claim to panama really only extends to the Canal Zone. All other dissenters are sent to "Purity Camps," basically combine the Gay-to-straight camps we already have (groan) with Russian style gulags.

But aren't there any underground movements? I mean, even Nazi Germany had its underground movements opposing the state. Seeing how many atheists and agnostics, liberals, non-Christian minorites and so on there are in the US, an underground movement almost seems to be a given in a scenario such as this.
