The American Age-->

Time For a little Back Story Children:

In this timeline America and France stand as the two most powerful nations on Earth, a fact that has remained as such since the World War (1919), and periodically since the Great American War (OTL War of 1812).

Germany has never been united, however with the formation of the Council of Germania, there is finally hope to end the centuries of warfare between the Germanic states of Prussia and Rhineland. Austria has recently joined the council as well, under the leadership of President and United Germania icon Alois Hitler.

In the Caucasus National Syndicalist leader Ioseb Stalin's reign is nearing its end, as the Man of Steel nears death's door. Many fear civil war will break out upon his end.

In America it is a time of National Pride not seen since the turn of the century. The Chaotic Years have come to an end and with the inauguration of President Rose Wilder Lane, the country has signaled that it is time for a change from the policies of the Roosevelt (Elanor) years.

In Asia, China has entered a renaissance of economic and cultural development. The two century alliance with the United States seems to have finally brought the country into the developed world, and with the decline of Japan and Russia, China stands as the soul power in Asia.

Never existed. Britain lost the Napoleonic Wars and was decisively defeated during the Great American War (A much much bigger War of 1812); and as such they lost much of the military capacity that allowed them to conquer Palestine from the Ottomans. As such the west never had the authority to create that country in the first place.

Among other things, but again alternate history is entirely speculation and really just the write projecting what he thinks might be an interesting way for things to have turned out. Hell, Steve Barnes called up all his historian and anthropology buddies over just to work out how to create a world where America was conquered by Black Muslims instead of White Christians; and he figured out a reasonable way to do it (Socrates didn't drink the Hemlock is the POD)

Southern Italy, it was one of France's puppet regimes during the Napoleonic Wars. In this TL, France wins its wars in Europe (that's not the POD, but it is a major result of the POD), and as such its allies survive to control Europe instead of Spain, Britain and Russia.

Whoa, each of the Boer Republics gets independence? That is awesome. Historically the Transvaal (region I'm from) was trying to pressure the Free State (what I'm assuming is the Vaal here) into a Union, much like the US and Texas back in the day. As it turns out, not even war with the British got us to unite. Only after we were defeated did we join the Union of South Africa together with the British colonies of the Cape and Natal (KwaZulu). And our borders have remained basically the same since then.

Also, hooray for alternate non-Commie China! :D

Well, only after decolonization, and the are around Cape Town is still technically part of the Zulu Federation. (click on the link in the description to see the map of this period)

Oh. Wait. How is Cape Town part of the Zulu Federation? It's on the west coast, on that map the ZF extends nowhere near there?

If the Afrikaner Independence Movement is a movement within the ZF, that's historically a bit unlikely since the Boers and Zulus were allies. The only time we had any beef with them during the colonial era was when the Zulu king Dingane double-crossed us, but he was an usurper anyway... when we took him down it was with the help of Zulu loyalists (the anti-Dingane faction, supporting the true king, Mpande). At most, if the British weren't in a position to interfere in the first place, I'm seeing co-existence between the Zulus and the (Dutch) Cape Colony. I mean, to reach those extents, the ZF would have to muscle their way thru the Xhosas anyway, so not much energy left to take on the Boers. Although if the British didn't invade, the Boers/Afrikaners as a single coherent ethnic group would not exist, and the "Afrikaners" would be the mixed-race (related to the San) Afrikaans speaking peoples of the northwestern part of South Africa and the southern half of Namibia.

Also, the Vaal river's name is Afrikaans, so that area would have another name if we never got that far north, which we wouldn't have if we didn't get sick of the British and headed north in 1820.

So yeah... alternate history... once you start seeing how things would affect each other you could keep yourself busy for years ;)

You'll notice a red outline around it along with in the Key a description that indicates that the Afrikaner area is more of a de facto autonomous state in the Zulu Federation rather than totally independent yet.

But thanks for the history lesson just the same, as my knowledge of African history is quite pitiful at the end of the day.

No worries. A Westernized/democratic Zulu Federation would probably be more or less like the modern South Africa anyway, just a couple decades early. And yeah, some of my fellow Afrikaners (although a very small and extreme minority) actually are Seperatists, so that's not unrealistic either. The only thing that's a bit of a stretch is having the Zulu Federation reach those extents in the first place. But if we just assume that it happens, well I don't think it'd happen a 100% as in your scenario, but close enough in the larger trends anyway :D

There was an Anarchist movement in the Ukraine shortly after the end of the First World War: [link]

They briefly established a free territory in the country, but it didn't last obviously.
